Sanity Meter: Overusing fantasy or being caught in the Nightmare drains Kurosh's Sanity.
The Sanity Tax: Getting caught in the Nightmare results in a respawn at the last safe location but inflicts permanent Sanity damage for that level.
Game Over: If Sanity is completely depleted, the player must restart the level. Sanity also determines the narrative ending (e.g., "Depressive" endings).
Sanity Indication: To visualise the psychological toll, a camera filter mimics the effect of old film being heated or melted. As sanity falls, the "burning" distortion intensifies, significantly worsening the player's vision and increasing visual Artifacts (similar to path-traced Gaussian Splatting effects).
The game consists of 7 to 9 levels. While Kurosh is the primary protagonist, approximately 2–3 levels switch perspectives to other family members (Kaveh or Darius).
Genre Shift: These levels are non-stealth and focus on dialogue-heavy narrative and moral choices.
Design Purpose: These serve as "breathers" for the player to process the story and reinforce the "Fractured Family" theme without the stress of the stealth mechanics.
